PROMOVET® JOINT is a sterile, isotonic, cross-linked gel for intra-articular injections, developed for the viscosupplementation of joints in cases of osteoarthritis, reduced joint mobility, and cartilage degeneration.

It is a safe product, particularly recommended for the treatment of elderly horses or those subjected to significant and continuous joint stress.

PROMOVET® JOINT acts as a synovial fluid substitute, indicated for degenerative arthritis, osteoarthritis with loss of mobility, and cartilage degeneration of various origins. The product exerts a protective effect on the joints and helps restore normal rheological conditions and improve joint function, reducing painful symptoms. The product is single-use and acts only at the injection site within the joint. It has no systemic action and must not be used for injections other than intra-articular ones.

PROMOVET® JOINT is not for human use but exclusively for veterinary use, to be administered solely by a qualified veterinary professional.

COMPOSITION

Sodium carboxymethylcellulose, sodium croscarmellose, sodium chloride, sodium phosphate monobasic dihydrate, sodium phosphate dibasic dodecahydrate, purified water (p.p.i.), sodium hydroxide solution 30%.

ACTIVE INGREDIENTS

CARBOXYMETHYLCELLULOSE

A plant-derived polymer, cellulose derivative, widely used as a natural gelling agent. It is considered a safe ingredient, including for food use in all animal species (EFSA opinion, 2020). In the product, in its sodium salt form, it acts as a viscosifying agent, creating a lubricating gel that fills the joint spaces.

CROSCARMELLOSE

A plant-based disintegrating agent derived from cellulose, capable of attracting water and increasing the volume of the viscous gel that fills the joint. It is the ingredient responsible for the viscosupplementation effect once the product is injected.

Note: The PROMOVET® JOINT formula is patented for veterinary use.

WARNINGS

PAWNEER® JOINT is intended exclusively for intra-articular injections and must be administered only by a veterinarian who has received specific training in intra-articular injection techniques.

Before using the product, carefully read the package insert included in the box.

Since no clinical data are available regarding the use of the product in animals intended for human consumption, its use in such animals is prohibited.

Before use, check the integrity of the syringe and the expiration date. PROMOVET® JOINT is a single-use product; its quality and sterility are guaranteed only if the syringe is sealed. The product is sterilized with moist heat and must not be re-sterilized. After use, any residual product must be disposed of as indicated in the package insert.

Do not use needles other than those specified in the package insert; the product must not be injected into an infected or severely inflamed joint.

No incompatibilities are known; however, concurrent use with other treatments is not recommended.

Some transient side effects may occur after injection of PROMOVET® JOINT, such as inflammatory reactions including redness, swelling, or stiffness. It is advisable to consult a veterinarian in case of adverse reactions.

Store PROMOVET® JOINT at 2–25 °C (36–77 °F) in a dry place, in its original packaging. Protect from light, heat, and frost. Keep out of reach of children.
